About Stripe

Stripe is an American merchant acquirer and payment processor offering payment processing services via its Application Programming Interface for e-commerce and mobile applications. Stripe also offers a virtual point of sale terminal that can be used by merchants for in-person transactions. Stripe offers negotiable pricing and custom fees depending on the merchant's industry and revenue.

Stripe offers a range of key services and technologies for payment processing and business operations. Stripe's core offerings include APIs for integrating payment processing into websites and mobile apps, along with Stripe Connect, a multiparty payment solution introduced in 2012. In 2018, Stripe launched Radar, an antifraud tool, and expanded its services with a billing product for managing subscriptions and invoicing. In 2019, Stripe unveiled its point-of-sale service, Terminal, which provides physical card readers and supports in-person payments in multiple countries. The company also introduced Stripe Capital in 2019, offering merchant cash advances based on anticipated payment volumes.

In 2021, Stripe launched Stripe Tax for automated tax calculations and Payment Links, a no-code product for creating checkout links. The company enhanced its ecosystem with Data Pipeline, syncing data with Amazon Redshift and Snowflake, and Stripe Financial Connections, enabling bank account verification and fraud reduction. It also partnered with Apple for Tap to Pay, supporting contactless payments via iPhone. In 2022, Stripe acquired BBPOS to streamline Terminal hardware production and launched Stripe Apps and the App Marketplace, integrating third-party tools to improve workflows. The App Marketplace resulted from Stripe's acquisition of OpenChannel in 2021.

Stripe Issuing, introduced in 2018, allows businesses to create physical and digital payment cards. Atlas, launched in 2016, supports startups in registering as U.S. corporations and setting up bank and merchant accounts. Stripe introduced Link in 2021 to save and autofill payment details across platforms, with support for 185 countries.
